In 2012, Florida After School created the Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Collaborative thanks to support from the Noyce Foundation, and in partnership with the Astronaut Memorial Foundation. This initial work brough together several STEM Hubs— museums, science centers and other industry partners leaders— with the goal of expanding Florida’s afterschool STEM opportunities. The Collaborative made resources, research and best practices available to foster enhanced services and activities for K-12 students outside of traditional school hours.
Today, the Collaborative has incorporated the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative into its work to re-imagine who can engineer, who can build, who can make. Together, we will inspire and prepare the next generation of innovators.
