Aim High: Supporting OST Programs Serving Middle School Youth

A large body of evidence indicates the critical role of middle school in determining a young person’s long-term academic trajectory. The New York Life Foundation’s educational enhancement grantmaking strategy aims to provide opportunities that help students in middle school thrive and become better prepared to complete high school and go on to college, providing them a brighter future. Eager to Learn: Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation

The Cornelia T. Foundation seeks to partner with organizations who are designing, improving, continuing or implementing programs geared towards closing the achievement gap and who are being innovative and flexible. The ‘Eager to Learn’ program was designed to offer grant funds to organizations who are able to implement programs so that students can work in small groups of no more than 5 students at a time. The Foundation’s goal is to provide the funds necessary to bring the best test prep teachers, tutors, materials and applications to students who would otherwise struggle to navigate and be successful in the college entrance system.

Yellow Buses in the Park 

Florida State Parks offer excellent educational opportunities designed specifically for school, afterschool and summer learning field trips. However bus field trip transportation costs may not be within reach by many. Yellow Buses in the Parks purpose is to assist with these transportation costs so that no child is deprived from the benefits of these valuable educational experiences. Yellow Buses in the Parks grants can be requested for paying transportation costs only directly to the provider.

No Kid Hungry Florida – Build a Partnership

The COVID-19 pandemic created an economic crisis as well as a health one, and in Florida as many as 1,153,780 kids were projected to be living in food insecure homes. But No Kid Hungry has a solution! The Foundation accepts grant applications year round, which special pockets of funding avaiable at specific times.

American Honda Foundation

The American Honda Foundation engages in grant making that reflects the basic tenets, beliefs and philosophies of Honda companies, which are characterized by the following qualities: imaginative, creative, youthful, forward-thinking, scientific, humanistic and innovative. They support youth education with a specific focus on the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects in addition to the environment. Grants typically range from $20,000 to $75,000 over a one-year period.
