Launching the Future: Meet Florida’s next STEM Peer Learning Community!

Launching the Future: Meet Florida’s next STEM Peer Learning Community!

We’re thrilled to introduce the 10 afterschool programs selected to join Florida’s STEM Peer Learning Community (PLC) as part of the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative! This marks the second STEM PLC hosted by Florida After School, continuing our commitment to expanding STEM learning opportunities in afterschool programs across the state.

Each selected program will receive a $500 mini-grant and participate in a shared learning experience designed to strengthen STEM programming. Through monthly virtual calls, expert training, and technical assistance, participants will learn to leverage evaluation tools like the PEAR Common Instrument Suite and refine their STEM strategies to create powerful, hands-on learning experiences for students.

These outstanding programs are on a mission to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers:

  • Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast (Jacobe Turner Teen Center)
  • Magic Flute Montessori School
  • Miami Children’s Museum
  • Oakridge Elementary 21st Century Community Learning Center
  • Southeast Florida Skyhawks
  • The Soyini Circles Girls Corp.
  • United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Central Florida
  • UCP of Central Florida Transitional Learning Academy
  • University Learning Academy
  • YMCA of Florida’s First Coast

With support from Florida After School, these programs will receive the training and resource needed to implement high-quality STEM programs that ignite curiosity and innovation in young learners.

About the Million Girls Moonshot 🌙

The Million Girls Moonshot (MGM) Initiative is a nationwide movement designed to inspire 1 million more girls to explore STEM through afterschool and summer programs. By taking part in this initiative, these afterschool professionals are helping to bridge opportunity gaps and ensure that STEM education is more accessible, inclusive, and equitable for all.

We look forward to seeing the incredible impact of these programs and celebrating their contributions to advancing STEM education in Florida!
