Join the Florida After School Advocacy Fellowship

The Florida After School Fellowship is a transformative program designed to empower educators and program leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to champion the cause of afterschool and out-of-school time (OST) programs. An advocacy fellowship focuses on training participants to effectively use their voices to influence policy, engage with community stakeholders, and drive positive change within the educational sector. For participants in Florida, where diverse communities and unique educational challenges exist, such a fellowship can be particularly beneficial. It provides them with a platform to learn about legislative processes, develop strategic communication skills, and build networks with policymakers and fellow advocates. By honing these skills, participants can effectively address the specific needs of their communities, secure funding, and implement policies that enhance the quality and accessibility of afterschool programs. Ultimately, the fellowship fosters a sense of agency and confidence among educators, enabling them to advocate for the vital role after-school programs play in student development and community well-being.

The Florida After School Fellowship Program consists of 10 virtual sessions and 2 opportunities to convene in person throughout the year. The first opportunity to meet in person is Children's Week in Tallahassee, Florida (Teen Day and OST Advocacy Day) occurs in the spring and the second, Florida After School annual conference typically occurs in the fall in Orlando, Florida. Both opportunities have scholarships for registrations and hotel stay.

The application to join the next fellowship cohort for 2027 will open October 2026 and remain open until December 3, 2027.
